Christmas day started out with the discovery of a fresh dusting of snow! Which was very exciting for all of us! A brown icy Christmas, just isn't quite right in my mind, especially when we live in a climate that typically gets more winter/snow.
Hazel finally got some Daddy time in, between early morning and evening calls, evening plans, and work, play time with Daddy had been pretty slim this week.
Christmas day seemed like a good time to bring out the Lincoln Logs set that we got a few week ago and were saving as "pull out when we need it toy". It was very fun watching Jared and Hazel play with it, especially because Jared was so excited about getting this set.
I just love the progression in these pictures!
Look at the instructions...
Pick up your piece...
And put it here! 😅
We even managed to get a little family photo shoot done after a bit of very last minute decorating!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
Between Christmas gifts and 50th anniversary jackets from the Pineview Fire department we all have Pineview firehall attire! Hazel's sweater is a youth extra small and goes down to her knees, but she absolutely loves it! If you look close you can also see three Christmas ornaments, which are also from the Pineview hall (two wooden circle ones, and one dalmatian with a yellow boot). Hard to believe that Jared has been at the firehall for three Christmas's already!
Overall we had a low key, family day, slowly cleaning and decorating the house as prep for Christmas dinner. We invited "Grandma Wendy" over for dinner, she is a Wednesday coffee social connect, and her and Hazel adore each other. Every Wednesday Wendy reads lots of book to all the littles that show up, they all just seem to gravitate towards her.
We had a lovely Christmas dinner together, and Jared even made a small batch of Oliebollen for dessert, which was delicious, and a first for Wendy.
Hazel even got a bedtime story from "Grandma Wendy" before winding down for the evening. Hazel is rather focused in this picture, but really really enjoys "Grandma Wendy" and even chose to sit on her lap for Bible reading after being given "Mommy or Daddy's lap" as an option!
Despite not really having set plans for the day, besides our dinner guest, it turned out to be a very lovely day! Still can't quite get over how content we are here, though it's pretty hard to be discontent suggled on a couch with dim lightning, a fire going, and Christmas lights to enjoy. (Even if Jared did get called away on yet another call.... but then I actually wrote something on my blog so...)
