13 Month and Walking

13 Months and Walking. It took Jade a very long time to get from furniture cruising to walking. Which was okay with me as she nicely waited till the snow melted off the deck before learning to walk, which gave both of the girls that little bit more room to explore.

One of Jade's First and longest stretches of walking! (Video above)

The last 2ish months have been quite cranky ones for Jade, she as been working on her top front teeth for a long time, learning to walk and being more active, but not sleeping as much. Needing more food, but not that interested in eating anything but dinner. This was the first breakfast food she actually ate, even though it had been offered before, it was a nice break through and made for a much happier Jade when she actually eats! This last week she has been eating much more which has been such a relief!

The snow is a little hard for her to walk on, but she will walk around on the deck in it quite happily.

Jade is One!

Our baby is one! Sometimes I get sad when I think about her being one, but when her birthday actually arrived I was happy to celebrate it and remembered that a lot of fun happens after one.
Jade is 19lbs 2ounces (actually 12 ounces smaller then Hazel), full of energy and smiles. She is very fast at crawling and starting to learn to climb. She has been spending a lot more time in her playpen and just recently the jolly jumper, both which she enjoys most of the time especially when she is tried and teething.
Jade has taken to knee walking, especially when carrying toys. It looks quite hilarious but I have yet to be able to catch it on video as she will only do it for three or four "steps" and then give up and revert to the faster method of crawling. She has all the skills she needs to walk on her own, but not the confidence.
Still just two teeth on the bottom, but she is working on her top two teeth.
Hazel's card that she made for Jade's birthday and put in a present bag. Yes, it's an amazon envelope, actually the envelop that Nana's present came in. I went to wrap the present right away before I forgot, and didn't quite understand what Hazel was asking. I told her it was a present for Jade, a surprise that they could see on Jade's birthday, quickly wrapped the present, put the envelope in the garbage, and came back to a very distraught Hazel crying on the floor. After a long hug she managed to sob out "but I wanted to make it a card" So out of the garbage it came to be a birthday card and valentine card for Jade, as valentines day is soon after Jade's birthday.

Sent Jared and Hazel to do groceries one evening as we were out of a few little things, and it is nice to have muffin tin liners for the cupcakes. Well they came back with very fancy muffin papers, assorted sprinkles and fancy candles!
Hazel enjoyed decorating the cupcakes, I did a few too, but my cupcakes decorating skill apparently aren't that spectacular as I don't think I can even tell which ones I did.😅
Jade just woke up from a nice long nap, and was full of smiles.
She didn't eat much of the cupcake, just mostly enjoyed poking it.
A gift from the firehall that we got when Jade was born, that I saved for her first birthday.
After this it was off to the pool for the afternoon and then home for a grilled cheese and tomatoe soup dinner. Which Jade learned how to open her mouth for food when being feed off a spoon by me, rather then doing it herself! So far dinner seems to be Jade's favorite meals, other meals will just get snacked on, she more just wants to be doing what everyone else is doing, but will actually eat a decent dinner.  (Video below)

Jade, 11 Months

I will have very precious memories of this little photo shoot, Jade and I were up on time and Hazel slept in a little bit, so we had some time just to ourselves after a good night sleep.
Jade likes to keep up with the big kids and always wants to be part of the action. She is very familiar with the word "No" and often gets mad before I even make it to her to take away the forbidden object or close doors that got left open. She has done lots of growing and learning in lots of different areas which has been very fun to watch. Jade is still very much a milk baby, she is interested in food and does eat some things, but needs to feed herself which hasn't been super effective yet.
Jade has finally been pulling some longer stretches at night, not sure yet if she has figured it out or if teething and colds over the last month has made for a very tired Jade...
Discovering Momma's ring. Jade has also discovered that she can reach new heights, and often pulls items off of the desk or dinning table that were left a bit to close to the edge.
That little pointer finger of hers got put to good use this month. Most everything gets the pointer finger touch before getting explored further.
Status Quo on the walking front, which is just fine with me. Hazel helps Jade out from time to time which has been really adorable. (Video below)

Jade is very fond of Daddy, she get very excited when he comes home and often looks around the house for him when he isn't home. Many things including Daddy get called "DaDa". Over the last month she has learned lots of new sounds which has been a very nice change from screeching! "TaDa" while clapping her hands has also been a recent skill, it has fun seeing her recognize what sounds she is making. She often makes little "tuckle" noises while playing now too. (video below)

Thought they are still too small to see in pictures Jade has her two bottom teeth now! Anything and everything is being put in her mouth more and more, very happy I put the vacuum in a more accessible spot so the floors can get vacuumed daily.
Our pool visit proved to be very helpful in the bath department. These girls have enjoyed quite a few baths since then!
Jade is a very happy and very active child, and keeps up with her big sister no problem.

Jade, 10 Months

Jade at 10 months, still getting into everything and has a knack for finding any piece of paper, Ziploc bags, whole potatoes or onion peels that gets left within reach. (the potatoes and onions are stored on the bottom shelf of an open pantry....) Jade is still furniture cruising and has also learned to walk along walls, I'm very curious if she will walk on her own soon, or if her current skills will get her where she needs to go for the next while. Playing on the floor with Daddy is a highlight and she will do the most of her independent standing and steps (which I have all missed so far.... 😢) during that time. (Video below)

Jade loves being on the couch! As she is the only one who can't get on it I wonder if she feels left out every once and a while, or if she just likes the view out the window.
Hazel looking and smiling...
Jade looking...
Both looking but not smiling... 😏
This picture just cracked me right up when I saw it, when I took it I knew that Jade had made a funny face, but later when reviewing them I saw Hazel making the same face in the background as well 😄As shown, but not heard in the picture, the noise level has increased in this house with two!
I don't remember if she went down for a nap after this or not, but she sure looks ready for one. 😍
The first time I witnessed Jade swallowing! Roasted potatoes for the win! She enjoyed sucking the sauce off of the pull pork as well. She just recently has eaten some broth off of a spoon which was a huge win as she wouldn't open her mouth before! (Video below)
Typically most food gets tasted, but not eaten... Maybe some more food will make it down once her teeth come in.
"Jaaaaaddde! Nooooo!!!" can be heard often from Hazel especially when she is setting up her own toys, hence the 'backwards' play set up. Typically they both play together quite nicely and laughter is often heard as well. (Video below)

Jade, 9 Months

(Yes, I know they are all kinda similar shots, but I just couldn't pick a favorite 😍)
Jade at 9 months! She is busy, she is having a blast! Jade is normal crawling around most of the time and is getting faster by the day. She is cheeky, she adores Hazel and is a total Daddy suck.
Jade has been pulling herself up on furniture much earlier then Hazel, I wouldn't be surprised if she was walking by Christmas. But behind on the teeth growing, Hazel had two by this age, so far Jade has none. Though I'm starting to wonder if she is working on a few.
We have been warned by others that she has mischief in her eyes, which we have also been seeing come out here and there, especially when she is playing with something she shouldn't and you say "No" she just looks back at you and smiles....
I just love how the blues bring out her eyes!
A few months ago I found Hazel and Jade's faces to have lots of similar expressions, now just two months later Jade has way more of her own personality and her own smile and head full of red hair that looks likes it's here to stay!

Jade, 8 Months

Jade is having a blast! She is army crawling, pulling herself up to her feet, standing at the coffee table, furniture cruising along the couch and Mommy is struggling to keep up! I had to adjust the crib height three times in a week and half, it is now as low as it goes... the playpen has been set up in the living room, the gates are permanently closed around the wood stove and sometimes I have time to clean up the toys and sweep and vacuum the floor.... Jade finally seems to be out of her "phase" and is napping a regular amount of time in the day and the nights are getting a bit better.

Hazel admiring Jade's outfit. "It's so beautiful!" she said when I finished dressing Jade.
Jade is very very fond of her big sister, and Hazel would be very lonely without Jade to play with!
Can you guess who Jade is smiling at? Hazel often gets the biggest smiles from Jade.
Month Highlights:
Jade discovering she can reach new heights.

Sunday best. One of my favorite dresses on Hazel, it was suppose to be much to big when I tried it on, but Jade is definitely bigger then Hazel was at this age.
Exploring the outdoors, and not limited to a play pen.
Hanging out with the big kids, this girl does not like being left out of the action!

These giggly girls just melt your heart! 😍 (Video below)
