The Chicks Arrival

Not sure if I will be able to concentrate enough to do this post but I'll try. Our little chicks showed up today and they are the cutesiest little things ever! The pictures really don't do them justice.
We set them up in the house for now, it took a few trys to find a spot that works well. Hazel is quite intrigued about the chicks but tends to scare them when she bangs on the box...

Tucked behind the wood rack seemed to be the best option for now.

If you are wondering how we got our chicks, they came by mail (you have to pick them up at the post office, they don't get delivered to your door) and in a much smaller box then I thought they were going to come in. Believe it or not, there is 25 chicks in that box.
One big fluffy pile of black and yellow
So while I was unpacking the chicks and trying to set them up nice I attempted to keep Hazel playing in her room as she didn't like the playpen at the moment.... I can't say that it worked that well... as apparently Hazel can climb onto boxes now...

And stand on them...

It's amazing how entertaining it can be watching these chicks. They are just about always moving around. Unless they are having a little snooze like the one in the corner 😅 I had to double check a few times, but it is still alive!
They also like being in the water bowl I set out for them... We might need to find a different setup for the water...

Here is a video of them as it capture the chicks a lot better then the pictures do!
Enjoy!

Valley Trip, Part One

 Day 1, March 23

A day of travel, we left at around 4:30 AM that morning and made it to 100 Mile before Hazel woke up and needed her morning feeding. The rest of the trip went quite smoothly and we made it to chilliwack for lunch in 8 hours flat!

Hazel loved the extra room in her new car seat!
Once we reached the Langley side of the valley Hazel had no problem being the center of attention.
Reading stories with Great-Grandma Sikma

Playing cars with the big boys
"Hi Aunty Corday, can I play with your name tag?"

"Play cars Papa?"

Hazel got to play on the kitchen table for about 1/2 hour, what a great way to get to play with everyone and feel big.
Day 2, March 24
Playing with Uncle Teagen, these cars and car tower was quite the hit.

One on one time with Papa and Nana.

We went for a walk to the school park down the road, the buggy did come along, but it wasn't used much.

On the swing with Aunty Genoa which was lots of fun,
so we tried out the baby swing at Papa and Nana's afterwards.

That afternoon we went to visit Will and Aleana. Their kids stand on the back of the couch and look out the window, Hazel had to be right in there too! It was neat to see how Hazel interacted with kids that were only a few years older then her and know how to play.

Bath time at Papa and Nana's, Nana's bathtub is a little bigger then the one at home 😍

Two people to share toys with!
Day 3, March 25
Last day on the Langley side of the valley.
We went shopping with all of the Aunties and Nana and got lots of new clothes. It was fun to have a sisters day out!

10 Minutes of Fun

I put Hazel in a box to see what she would think of it. She had a grand time for about 10 minutes. Until she tipped the box over and crawled out to find other things to do.

11 Months...One more till 1!

11 Months already! April 10 came and went before I realized it, hence me posting Hazel's update 2 days late 🙈 Hazel is growing up fast, but is still our same happy girl! She still loves to babble and is in a really nice playing stage. There have been multiple times where she played nicely in the playpen for about an hour! Naps have been really up in the air for the past month due to teething, another growth spurt, a valley trip and some more teething... but the nice playing has made up for it most of the time. She loves to walk around with a bit of help and has been getting better walking with just one hand to hold on to rather then two, though two is still much more preferred.
Despite that fact that she has LOTS of toys, she still loves these plastics containers and I catch her playing with them and the lids quite often.

The cars are a pretty close second, she will happy chase them around if you pull them back and make them go
and try her best to get them if they go places she can't reach.

At times Hazel says words  that sound like "Wiggle Wiggle".  Jared has called Hazel a wiggle bum from day one and a few weeks ago I finally clued in that a lot of of noises sounded like "Wiggle Wiggle". It took a lot of trying, but I got a video of her saying it! 😍

Hazel is also starting to learn to point at things that she would like which is quite helpful!
Not the most attractive picture... but it does do a good job of showing off all four teeth.
You can see them on this picture too, but you kind of have to know they are there.
Crawling into 12 months.... not so sure Mommy is ready for that yet!
